Fourteen Fifty Four

Submission Criteria

We are always on the look out for talented writers for our in-house children’s and teen fiction projects and we work with published and previously unpublished authors. We retain full copyright in our properties, but we work in a collaborative way with all our authors, believing that providing for an ongoing participation encourages greater involvement and creativity. If you would like us to consider you for our future projects, please submit a sample of your writing as detailed below.

Please note that we will not accept sample material which does not comply with our guidelines and we will return any such material unread. All FourteenFiftyFour’s in-house projects are created by us – your writing sample is provided purely as a means for us to assess your writing style.

Submission guidelines

If you are a published writer, please ask your agent to send us a three chapter sample of your published work, with an author bio and bibliography.

If you are an unpublished writer, please send us a maximum of 3000 words on the theme of ‘what happened to me in the summer holidays’ clearly marking whether your sample is aimed at the 8-12 fiction market or the teen fiction market. We are not currently looking for writers for younger age groups. Your sample should be accompanied by a brief covering note telling us a bit about you and your writing.

Each writing sample should be typed, double spaced and printed single-sided. Please send your sample to Zoë Watkins, FourteenFiftyFour Ltd, Ely House, 37 Dover Street, London W1J 4NS. We do not accept submissions by email, and these will be deleted unread.

Please ensure that you keep a copy  - if we like your writing, we will keep your sample on file.If we feel that your writing is not suitable for us, we will return your sample to you as long as you provide us with an SAE.
